The neat Google Talk Chatback thingie is broken. In fact I like most of what they do. But I have to go ranting now. If any of the fine Google engineers happens to read this: Please know that this ticks me off (which also means: You did a lot of good stuff already).
If someone clicks my Chatback link one of two things happens, none of which is the proper one. If I’m not logged into Google Mail I get a message from the chatback bot delivered to my IM client, Adium.
To start the chat I have to click the link and I get redirected to the Google Talk Gadget that lives in the Browser.

Dear Google Talk Team,
this is just WRONG.
(I’ll explain why in a minute.)
The next best thing happens if I have Google Mail open. The chat begins immediately inside the Google Mail interface. I have assigned a higher priority to my Desktop client but the chat opens in the browser.
Again, this is WRONG.
There is exactly one thing to happen if someone decides to click that button. I should get an Invitation to join a (chat)room and join it without leaving my beloved and trusted Jabber client. Nothing else. The spec has been published, Adium has implemented it.
But I’m locked to browser instead of being able to use my preferred method of messaging and chatting.
